Job Overview

We have a unique and appealing vacancy for a Band 7 Clinical Voice Specialist, to join our friendly, innovative and supportive adult team, where you will manage, provide, and continue to develop a high-quality voice therapy service for out-patient in Conwy & Denbighshire. You will also work closely with ENT.

There are opportunities to work flexibly and to offer virtual appointments to patients.

We give supervision, PADR, CPD, training and career development opportunities. We share patient stories and compliments.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

Lead, manage, deliver, and continue to develop a quality out-patient voice therapy service to adults living in Conwy & Denbighshire

Provide highly specialist therapy to patients referred with dysphonia, and other laryngeal dysfunctional problems, such as ILO / VCD or chronic cough

Optimise service delivery, standards of best practice, and successful outcomes

Work closely with ENT, within MDT, liaising with other disciplines, services and GPs

Deliver therapy 1:1 or group, either face-to-face, or virtually by video-call, other telehealth, or by phone, with scope for hybrid working from home, clinic or hospital

Take part in a Joint Voice Clinic, run by ENT and SLT at Glan Clwyd Hospital, up to 3 times per month, with opportunity to perform flexible nasendoscopy examinations

Give advice, upskill and supervise other SLTs, and educate, advise MDT professionals

Access management supervision, annual PADR, regular team meetings, as well as clinical supervision, education and sharing opportunities

Undertake CPD and participate as a member of a Voice Centre of Excellence Network

Be supported to move forward in your career development

Work creatively and flexibly to develop the care pathway, meet waiting list pressures and manage the caseload, in consultation with Service Managers and Peers

Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • Recognised qualification degree / equivalent in S&LT
  • HCPC registered
  • Post graduate study relevant to clinical area at Masters level or equivalent demonstrable experience at this level
  • Able to demonstrate continuing professional development e.g. up to date, relevant CPD portfolio.
  • Clinical supervisory experience

Desirable criteria

  • Membership of appropriate clinical network group
  • Other professional or academic qualification which relates to clinical practice
  • Accredited Practice Placement Educator Certificate

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Significant experience clinically in area of specialism
  • Experience of clinical leadership
  • Significant experience of leading multidisciplinary / multiprofessional teams
  • Experience in service development / improvement.
  • Evidence of attendance on specialist short courses and advanced training in relation to clinical specialty

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of project management
  • Experience in leading service development / improvement
  • Experience in research

Knowledge And Skills

Essential criteria

  • Extensive clinical experience and knowledge in relationship to specialty
  • Evidence of recent study in relevant clinical area
  • Advanced clinical reasoning skills
  • Able to critique research papers and implement relevant findings
  • Effective planning, time management and organisational skills

Desirable criteria

  • Alternative and Augmentative Communication knowledge & skills
  • Welsh speaker
