Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated, passionate, and compassionate individual to join our team as a Senior Cook within BCUHB Central Catering Services.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operation of the kitchen, ensuring that food is prepared, cooked, and served to a consistently high standard while maintaining safety, efficiency, and compliance with all relevant regulations.
You will contribute to the delivery of efficient and effective operational services across the Catering Service, helping to lead a hardworking team and ensuring the highest quality catering service is provided to both patients and staff.
This post will be based at Glan Clwyd Hospital and will involve:
Overseeing daily kitchen operations including rostering
Supporting and supervising catering staff
Undertaking audits and ensuring compliance with food safety and health & safety standards
Managing stock control and supporting procurement processes
Reviewing and improving service delivery
Menu planning
Conducting staff performance appraisals and training
Participating in and leading internal staff meetings as required
The ideal candidate will have:
Extensive culinary experience within a professional catering environment
Advanced knowledge of Food Safety and Health & Safety regulations
Strong organisational and leadership skills
A proactive, flexible, and positive approach to work
Main duties of the job
The job will involve working with the Catering Team to ensure the best possible Catering Service for Patients, Staff and Visitors. This will include food safety audits, sickness management meetings, staff annual review meetings, and daily supervision duties within acute and community sites.
As a key member of the Facilities team, the post holder will also support the development of service improvements and assist with, or lead on, specific tasks and projects as required.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
