Clinical Educator

The post-holder will lead on a range of activities that ensure the delivery of effective education, competency, training and development of the clinical workforce within across health and social care organisations in all sectors in the Norfolk & Waveney ICS. They will have specific responsibilities for elements of the pre and post registration agenda, clinical skills training for all staff as required, Health Care Support Worker education and development, competency based assessment, management and clinical leadership development, supporting placement expansion work. Taking forward elements of the Clinical learning environment strategy and supporting processes and transformation in line with the education plan.
This role will be actively involved with supporting key deliverables laid out in the Long Term Workforce Plan.
The post-holder will lead on a range of activities that ensure the delivery of effective education, competency, training and development of the clinical workforce within across health and social care organisations in all sectors in the Norfolk & Waveney ICS, in line with the Long Term Workforce Plan
Health and care services in Norfolk and Waveney are working closely together to further improve services and provide more joined-up care for local people. In Norfolk and Waveney, we have already achieved a lot by working in partnership to improve health and care outcomes. These changes have been made possible by different organisations – NHS hospitals, GPs, mental health and community health services, local councils, care homes and social workers, voluntary and community organisations and others – joining forces to agree and plan for local people’s needs.
Norfolk and Waveney Integrated Care System (ICS) includes a statutory Integrated Care Partnership (ICP), and an Integrated Care Board (ICB) called NHS Norfolk and Waveney. This partnership and organisation dedicated to making sure that organisations work together for the benefit of our residents, staff and communities is an important step change, helping to create positive differences to local people and joining up health and social care. This is the culmination of many years of effort to build partnership working across the NHS, local authorities, the third sector and patient groups.
The post holder will:
1. Adhere to their professional codes of conducts
2. Adhere to the principles of quality and risk
3. Comply with relevant Trust Clinical Procedural Documents, including:
experience, and be a resource for clinicians across Norfolk & Waveney
system.
5. Provide support to Supervisors and Preceptors to make decisions relating
to student placements, and competence and fitness for practice.
6. Provide and demonstrate effective communication with all key stakeholders.
7. Participate in obtaining appropriate feedback on the education agenda
including programme delivery, course and curriculum content.
8. Evaluate and disseminate good practice in relation to education and
development across Norfolk & Waveney system.
9. Assist in developing and implementing imaginative recruitment campaigns
10. Contribute to the development of relevant Education policies.
CLINICAL / EDUCATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
The post holder will:
11. Will undertake presentations on clinical education to large groups.
12. Be able to present complex and sensitive information to large groups.
13. Communicate complicated educational and practice information across health and social care organisations and educational institutions.
14. Ensure clinical training within organisations in the Norfolk & Waveney system is up to date and complies with any professional guidance and standards.
15. Identify and maintain CPD needs for all staff within sphere of responsibility.
16. Plan practice education development programmes for supervisors and learners.
17. Be able to demonstrate own clinical skills.
18. Be able to provides best practice advice in a clinical setting for mentors and staff in relation to clinical practice, quality and risk.
19. Be able to teach and devise training and development programmes.
20. Be able to develop and provide clinical learning opportunities and
programmes for students, supervisors and staff.
21. Take responsibility for personal development and education including
statutory, mandatory, and in-service training.
22. Identify opportunities to maximise benefits and effectiveness of new
information and information technologies.
23. Undertake and participate in education and leadership programmes.
24. Contribute to the Clinical Supervision agenda including implementation of the strategy, training and evaluation.
25. To contribute to the preceptorship programme where required.
26. Contribute to education meetings.
27. Contribute to the work required to ensure the organisation meets the
requirement of the NMC Fitness for Practice agenda and the HCPC agenda
28. Contribute to the allocation of / and student placements.
29. Oversee and work alongside students, supervisors and preceptors.
30. Work with teams in developing appropriate student caseloads.
31. Provide daily support and input to students in the pilot new model for working with students.
ORGANISATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:The post holder will:
32. Contribute to policy or service changes to improve clinical practice and
education within Norfolk & Waveney system
33. Contribute to the development / implementation of supervisors preceptorship and education practice programmes and learning environment in line with educational policy.
34. Demonstrate safe use of educational resources/equipment
35. Contribute to the maintenance of records of mentors, preceptors and
educators, registers and assessments
36. Support organisations with regards to disciplinary issues related to the preregistration workforce.
37. Observe organisational policies at all times.
38. Implement policies and procedures for the operational management of
education and development.
39. Contribute to the development of new education, competency training in response to the local strategies and the Workforce Plan.
40. Contribute to the new pilot projects for working with students and new
models as they are developed
41. Responsible for maintaining accurate information pertaining to the education agenda.
42. Be responsible for keeping up to date with new developments occurring
nationally and regionally.
43. Identify opportunities to maximize benefits and effectiveness of new
information and information technologies.
44. Support e-learning and other technologies
45. Contribute to the development and maintenance of the Supervisor, Preceptor and AHP Practice Educator databases.
46. Support the organisation in promoting a transparent and open environment to safely report issues of concern in clinical practice.
47. Work in partnership to ensure that education is embedded in clinical practice across disciplines.
