What difference will you make?
Being a trustee of HSSW is a rewarding way to support a charity that is providing high quality support to families when they need extra help. It is an opportunity for you to bring your expertise and perspective to the decision-making process, enabling us to continue and develop the work of HSSW.
What are we looking for?
Understanding of the challenges of family life Commitment to the scheme. Willingness to devote the necessary time and effort. Strategic vision. Good, independent judgement. Ability to think creatively. Willingness to speak their mind. Understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship. Ability to work effectively as a member of a team. Abiding by Nolan's seven principles of public life selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty and leadership.
What will you be doing?
As a charity, HSSW has a Board of Trustees which is responsible for the governance of the organisation. Trustees work together as a team to ensure HSSW is delivering effective support to local families where it is needed. To do this we support each other to draw on different perspectives, knowledge and experiences, always prioritising the interests of our beneficiaries. “The team feels like ordinary people doing extraordinary things for families” (volunteer) Every trustee brings their own skills and experiences to the board, ensuring we have a rich and effective team to enable us to make robust and astute decisions. It is important that our board reflects the different aspects of our community. We need trustees with an understanding of the pressures facing parents and a genuine interest in supporting parents in our community as well as those with expertise in areas such as HR.
