Victim and Witness Liaison Officer (Full Time, Permanent)
Salary: £29,656 - £30,855

Join Wiltshire Police as a Victim and Witness Liaison Officer within the Horizon team, where you will be part of a vital initiative by the Police and Crime Commissioner to prioritise and support victims and witnesses of crime. This rewarding opportunity focuses on ensuring individuals receive the support, guidance, and information they need to navigate the Criminal Justice System confidently and effectively and are kept well informed throughout their journey.
As a Victim and Witness Liaison Officer within the Horizon team, you will manage a personal caseload, serving as the dedicated Single Point of Contact for victims and witnesses. Your responsibilities will include providing support, offering signposting, and coordinating needs and delivering court updates, all while working within tight deadlines in a secure and confidential environment.
To excel in this role, you will have a background in customer service and be skilled at managing sensitive conversations with empathy. This rewarding position offers the opportunity to make a significant difference by enhancing the experience for victims and witnesses during challenging times.
Do note you will be required to work from the office for the first 6 months of employment as part of role training and development.
Experience
- Previous administrative experience working in a customer service environment.
- Experience of dealing directly with the public
- Experience of working under pressurised time constraints
- Experience in the judicial system, police environment, or working with vulnerable populations would be advantageous.
Skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Skilled in managing conflict and handling distressed callers.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
- Familiar with computer systems for data input and report generation
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with internal and external stakeholders
- Excellent interpersonal skills – approachable, tactful, empathetic, diplomatic and a sympathetic and listening telephone manner.
- Effective time management and organisational skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Quick decision-making abilities and efficient problem-solving
- Maintains confidentiality with sensitive information.
- Performs well under pressure and adapts to changing environments.
- Stays updated on legislation, policies, and procedures.
- Uses initiative to resolve issues and ensures high accuracy in work.
