TSA Riley is seeking to hire a Sustainability Lead to join our team in the UK.

Reporting into the ESG Director, the Sustainability Lead will be responsible for developing, conceptualizing, and executing end-to-end strategic programs and initiatives to support our clients in the property and infrastructure sectors.


The Sustainability Lead will collaborate with other departments and professionals within the company to ensure the best outcome possible for our clients.


The location for this role can be discussed, as our aim is to employ the best, and our client base is spread nationally across the UK. Therefore, we welcome applications from suitable candidates currently residing anywhere in the UK.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain key client relationships and maximize opportunities for repeat business.
  • Client management to ensure projects run on time and in budget, delivering a high-quality service.
  • Support the delivery of the Global ESG strategy, building a plan for UK, collaborating with local and global teams to deliver ESG service offerings to our clients.
  • Build a high performing team with skills and capabilities relevant to client needs.
  • Upskill existing business to build capability in current employees to support the sustainability team and ensure engagement with clients is delivered consistently.
  • Managing revenue to ensure the team operate as a profitable service line.
  • Reviewing sustainability related data, metrics and reports to identify issues and potential opportunities for improvement.
  • Responding to queries from colleagues, suppliers, customers, investors and other external stakeholders regarding sustainability issues.
  • Providing reports to the senior leadership team to ensure sustainability considerations are integrated into decision-making across the organisation.
  • Advising internal colleagues on compliance with relevant laws, regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Working with marketing and communication teams to ensure appropriate, accurate and useful information is available to all stakeholders especially relating to mandatory reporting requirements.
  • Reviewing suppliers’ approach to sustainability and addressing any issues identified across the supply chain including but not limited to emissions, modern slavery, etc.
  • Keeping abreast of the latest trends and developments in sustainability and ensuring the implications for the organisation are understood and communicated.
  • Manage contracts, budgets and costs to ensure profitable growth for the team.
  • Ensure the latest learning and development initiatives are implemented as required within the team.
  • Establish industry partnerships and establish industry leadership in sustainability research expertise and ensure that this is leveraged across TSA Riley.
  • Innovate processes, products and services to drive efficiencies and effectiveness, and to stay abreast of legislative and market development.


Desired Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or postgraduate qualification in sustainability, environmental, social or a related field, or a similar equivalent subject.
  • 10+ years of experience working in a senior sustainability role, with an emphasis on consulting, strategy, reporting, metrics and disclosure.
  • 2+ years of experience in a consultancy role in UK, delivering results-driven outcomes, and leading a team.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in areas of environmental and social sustainability and/or governance
  • Demonstrated ability to lead high-performance teams and multiple diverse projects simultaneously.
  • Experience in climate, decarbonisation, circularity or nature strategy, scenario planning, risk and opportunity analysis and science-based targets ideal.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to identify and build relationships with diverse stakeholders, including clients, community members, and government agencies.
  • Understanding and experience with the latest trends, developments, and best practices in ESG, sustainability, and infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge and experience in global environmental standards and frameworks such as UN Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs), International Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosure (TCFD) and others.
  • A strong understanding of NABERS, BREEAM, and other environmental and social certifications required
  • An understanding of social impact and associated regulation.
  • Experience with carbon, nature or climate change modelling and analysis tools, as well as greenhouse gas inventories and life-cycle analyses.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects from start to finish, including budget management, team leadership and collaboration with multiple stakeholders.
  • Highly organised with strong project management, stakeholder management and influencing skills to lead and manage with authority.
  • A natural collaborator, able to work across teams and operational streams.
  • Ability to operate autonomously and manage tasks independently
  • High-level written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to take initiative, network, collaborate and effectively communicate with stakeholders, and problem-solve under tight deadlines.
