Howdens are looking to recruit a Stock Controller to join us at our Thorne manufacturing site (Paint to Order factory), where you'll play a vital role in managing the stock of materials required to meet production plans.
In this role, you will be responsible for controlling and recording all stock movements, booking goods inwards, and overseeing goods out. You’ll be accountable for the accuracy of stock levels and will ensure that our inventory control processes support efficient operations.
This is a hands-on role that requires strong attention to detail, good organisational skills, and the ability to work proactively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

What Will I Be Doing As a Stock Controller
- Managing all inventory control activities to ensure accurate stock levels and minimal losses
- Maintaining and updating SKU data to reflect real-time stock status
- Monitoring and reporting on damaged or defective stock movements
- Reacting swiftly and effectively to operational issues that may affect stock availability
- Proactively identifying and addressing factors that impact STR (stock-to-requirement) performance
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and general Office applications
- Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) – SAP knowledge is a plus
- Strong background in inventory control, stock reconciliation, and warehouse operations
- High attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills
- Effective communication and collaboration across teams
- Proactive, self-motivated, and takes ownership of stock accuracy
