Full time position - 37.5 hours per week / Part- time also available

Do you have the energy, drive, and compassion over experience, to support our tenants to obtain the lives, and the happiness they truly deserve?
This is a great opportunity for the right candidate to deliver person-centred support to adults with learning disabilities in their own home.
A day in the life of a Support Worker with St Jude’s Care
A day in the life of a support worker is as dynamic as it is rewarding. The morning spent supporting tenants as they prepare to start their day—helping with personal care tasks, prompting medication, or offering words of encouragement as they aim to manage these independently.
Ensuring tenants arrive at their day placements promptly and collected on time. Actively listening whilst they offload their experiences and process their day with you.
You may need to accompany a tenant to a medical appointment, providing not just physical assistance but a calming, reassuring presence. Perhaps a supporting to do some personal shopping, helping them pick out their favourite snacks, guiding them to make budget-conscious choices.
The afternoon could consist of supporting a tenant in tackling laundry, tidying their space, or heading out for a walk and a drink. Whether it’s fresh air or chatting over a cup of tea, these moments foster a sense of belonging, connection, and trust.
Community access is a key part of the role, you might spend time encouraging tenants to engage with hobbies and interests—whether that’s joining a community group, exploring a love for music, or even just going for a swim. Perhaps they’ll need your support to reconnect with an old friend or maintain family relationships, offering them the confidence and motivation to nurture these bonds.
Evening, you may need to support with preparing dinner or tidying up, always encouraging independence while providing just enough support to ensure they feel empowered and capable. By the time your shift ends, perhaps you’ll reflect on the small but meaningful victories of the day.
It’s a role that balances practical assistance with emotional support, all while championing tenants’ autonomy and individuality.
