What You’ll Be Doing

AXA Partners contributes to enriching AXA's core insurance offer with specialized insurance and innovative services to end-customers, thus contributing to the transformation of the AXA Group from payer to partner.

To guarantee the profitability of AXA Partners P&C's business and ensure that technical issues are addressed consistently, a Central Technical Excellence team works closely with the Risk Management team to support the development of the business.

AXA Partners P&C's Central Technical Excellence Department comprises 13 technical experts (central underwriting and reinsurance, technical claims and data science teams) working for the various assistance business lines: Motor, Home, Travel and Health.

Within this Central Technical Excellence team, the Data Scientist / Pricing Actuary is responsible for:

  • Developing sophisticated pricing models to support both local TEX teams and the business line's technical excellence.
  • Data analytics to address other business issues (expanding the use of data analytics to include operational, fraud and claims analysis).
  • Perform analyses to assess the financial impact of new pricing models.
  • Provide technical actuarial support to business lines and local TEX teams.

Your Main Responsabilities Will Be To

  • Price models
  • Develop pricing models to support technical excellence at local and business line level.
  • Perform preparatory data processing.
  • Develop models in R / Python.
  • Document results.
  • Develop impact analysis to assess the impact of using the new pricing model.
  • Support IT teams in the implementation of the pricing model.
  • Communicate results to stakeholders in sales and underwriting teams.
  • Data analysis
  • Apply data analysis to other non-pricing topics.
  • Prepare data and create predictive models.
  • Communicate results to the whole company.

What You’ll Bring

  • Master's degree in Actuarial Science or Engineering degree in a relevant technical field such as computer science, statistics or mathematics,
  • At least 3 years' experience as a Pricing Actuary, with a focus on data modelling & analytics (GLM modelling development) & coding (languages R, Python would be valuable).
  • Good knowledge of Python/R programming would be an asset, as would knowledge of SQL. Knowledge of the Big Data ecosystem (e.g. Hive, Spark, Scala) would be a plus. Previous experience in handling and understanding complex data from multiple sources. An understanding of Data Science techniques would be a plus (e.g. Random Forests, Gradient Boosting, LGBM,...),
  • Fluency in English is required. Fluency in other languages would be a plus.
  • Relational and management skills
  • Experience in leading end-to-end Data Science projects would be highly appreciated,
  • Good ability to interact with people from different cultures,
  • Adaptability in a complex and constantly changing environment,
  • Good influencing and communication skills, tenacity and enthusiasm,
  • Responsiveness and results orientation,
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative and be responsive.
