ActiveFence is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Non-Consensual Intimate Imagery (NCII) Researcher. Here, you will play a pivotal role in conducting groundbreaking research on online abuses such as: image-based sexual abuse online, the circulation of leaked and hacked intimate content, online stalking, and AI-enabled abuse, such as investigating nudification tools. You will be responsible for managing and developing our internal knowledge-base, conducting online research, writing intelligence briefings and reports, and ensuring high quality and standards of research delivery. Additionally, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, analyze data, generate cutting-edge insights, and propose creative, proactive strategies to address emerging issues. Responsibilities:
- Online Research: Conduct in-depth research on organized crime groups and online criminality, analyzing qualitative and quantitative data to uncover nuanced insights. Develop research methodologies and frameworks, continuously improving processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Project Management: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product, and policy, to address emerging issues and develop proactive solutions.
- Written Intelligence Briefings: Write actionable reports summarising research findings, maintaining a high level of accuracy, clarity, and attention to detail. Ensure the high quality and standards of research outputs.
- Knowledge Preservation and Development: Stay updated on industry trends, emerging threats, and best practices in the field of organized crime, proactively seeking opportunities for knowledge expansion. Foster a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning within the department.
Must have:
- Master’s degree (MA or MPhil) or PhD.
- Fluency in English is compulsory.
- Exceptional research skills for managing large-scale research initiatives involving 5-20 stakeholders.
- Motivated, proactive, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Desired experience:
- Subject-matter knowledge relating to gender-based violence, violence against women and girls, or equivalent.
- Experience with OSINT (Open Source Intelligence) or dark web intelligence is a significant advantage.
- Experience in working with data, and analyzing data comprehensively.
- Experience handling sensitive or harsh content with professionalism.
