The Role

As a Plater - Fabricator, you’ll be part of a highly skilled team working on structural fabrication and repairs across a range of platforms including submarines, warships, and factory-based modules. This is a hands-on role where your technical expertise and commitment to safety will directly contribute to national defence and maritime innovation.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Fabricating and altering structures using a variety of metals and thicknesses.
  • Interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Performing structural repairs and manufacturing structural modules.

  • Proven ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions.
  • Competence in using fabrication tools and workshop machinery.
  • Experience in marine engineering or similar sectors (e.g., Royal Navy, RFA, commercial shipbuilding).
  • A strong safety-first mindset and attention to detail.

Qualifications

Indentured Apprenticeship or Level 2 qualification in fabrication, structural steel, or sheet metal work.

Working Pattern

  • Full-time, 35 hours per week.
  • Based on-site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.
