We have an exciting new role Youth Development Worker - Outreach which is funded by Plymouth City Council (PCC). In response to an unprecedented housing crisis, we are proud to work in partnership with PCC, BCHA and PATH as we launch the Hub Move-On team—a dynamic, co-located team within the Plymouth Alliance. This team will play a vital role in helping people to move from temporary B&B placements into accommodation that meets their needs.
With a strong emphasis on trauma-informed, person-centred practice and multi-agency collaboration—including social care, health, and probation—your role will be instrumental in delivering practical, compassionate solutions for young people aged 16 - 25 facing the greatest challenges.

This role is being offered on a full time, 12 month fixed term basis. Bandwidth hours will be 8am to 6pm, the successful candidate will work 5 shifts, across Monday to Sunday (dependent on need), may include weekends and bank holidays.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one key worker support to young people aged 16-25.
- Undertakes regular visits to B&Bs and other temporary accommodation to engage with young people.
- Develop and review support and action plans tailored to individual goals.
- Update and manage risk assessments and risk management plans.
- Support young people with tenancy and housing management.
- Assist with benefits applications (e.g., Universal Credit, PIP, Housing Benefit).
- Guide young people in budgeting, paying bills, and managing finances.
- Explore and support pathways into education, training, and employment.
- Collaborate with external agencies (mental health, domestic violence services, landlords, etc.).
- Help young people prepare for independent living and successful move-on.
- Adapt communication styles to provide person-centred, creative support.

- A tenacity in seeking the best outcomes for young people.
- Level 3 qualification or equivalent in a relevant subject such as youth work, health and social care, coaching, mental health, housing, or ability to work towards.
- A good understanding of young people’s needs, safeguarding and emotional and mental health issues.
- An understanding of support needs and support planning.
- An understanding of risk assessing and risk management.
- Full, valid UK driving licence with access to a suitable vehicle.
- Innovative and creative in your ways of working.
- Resilient and flexible in dealing with others.
- Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Confident in lone working and be a good team player.
