Deputy Director of People
The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King's Lynn NHS Foundation Trust
Date: 5 days ago
City: King's Lynn
Contract type: Full time

Kindness, wellness, fairness. These are our Trust values and they need to run through everything we do. We’re looking for someone who can help the People Services Team and the entire organisation embed our values and help us deliver exceptional people services to the organisation against the backdrop of significant financial challenge and change across the NHS and Social Care.
The Trust has recently become part of the Norfolk and Waveney Acute Hospital Collaborative with the Norfolk and Norwich and James Paget hospitals. This Group has real potential to improve patient outcomes and staff experience but will involve significant changes to how we work and support our staff. This role has a vital role in ensuring the successful transformation of People and other services across the Group.
We have a new long term corporate strategy and People Plan and we are looking for someone who can provide inclusive, compassionate leadership to the People Services directorate to ensure we have the right structure, systems and processes to provide great people services and the Trust’s strategic priorities during a period of significant change.
An ability to work collaboratively across internal and external teams, develop and deliver complex programmes of work with limited resources and provide assurance that we are operating to the highest possible standards. Experience of managing complex employee relations cases and developing processes that support a just and learning culture would be an asset. There will be opportunities to work with system partners on improving People Services across the Group and the wider Norfolk and Waveney health and care system as well as our Electronic Patient Record and New Hospital programmes.
We have made real progress as an organisation to modernise and improve the support we provide to the organisation, but we can do more to embed our values and develop an organisation and leadership team which reflect our population and workforce. We are also looking to take the next steps with the development and expansion of digital workforce systems and solutions.
We are actively seeking candidates from a variety of backgrounds who offer the leadership skills required to take our Trust forward. Your values and ability to inspire and harness the talents of others are more important than where you have gained your leadership experience. Candidates should have CIPD level 7, or be working towards it and have significant academic or equivalent practical experience of Human Resources.
The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) King's Lynn is located near some of the most beautiful scenery in the UK, along the north Norfolk coast, and not far from Sandringham House.
We provide a comprehensive range of specialist, acute, obstetrics and community-based healthcare services to around 331,000 people across west and north Norfolk, in addition to parts of Breckland, Cambridgeshire and South Lincolnshire. We have more than 4,000 staff and volunteers, approximately 530 beds, and a helipad for air ambulances. We work with neighbouring hospitals for the provision of tertiary services, including as part of regional partnership and network models of care, such as the trauma network. Some specialist services and clinics are provided in community facilities, such as the North Cambridgeshire hospital in Wisbech.
Please see attached candidate pack for full information regarding the role including job description and person specification.
