This post is a fixed term secondment for 12 months to meet the needs of the service.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, patient and service focussed pharmacist to join pharmacy clinical trials team. You will be based within the pharmacy department at the Wrexham Maelor Hospital but working closely with the Research and Development team in the East. The post holder will be focussed on the delivery of clinical trials in Wrexham Maelor Hospital and the East Clinical Research Facility (CRF).
The postholder requires a suitable level of post-registration experience in hospital pharmacy, and a good knowledge of clinical trials. You will ideally have Good Clinical Practice (GCP) or be willing to undertake training. You must be highly self-motivated, able to demonstrate leadership and problem-solving skills and have the ability to plan and work independently.
The specialist pharmacist post is a great opportunity for pharmacists wishing to further develop their career in clinical trials whilst working alongside our friendly team of other specialist pharmacists and technicians.
Participation in weekend and emergency duty (out of hours) rota’s are a requirement of this post.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job
- Lead a safe and effective specialist pharmacy service for clinical trials
- Undertake professional and clinical pharmacist duties
- Provide expert pharmaceutical advice and support for the delivery of clinical trails for hospital R&D And CRF trial teams
- To be involved in the training of diploma, pre-registration and other pharmacists in area of speciality
- Assist in providing clinical training and supervision of pharmacy staff and other healthcare professionals
- To be involved in the development and delivery of practice research, service and quality improvement
- Develop policies, protocols and guidelines within clinical trials

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- MPharm degree or equivalent
- Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
- Post Graduate MSc/Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent experience and/or qualifications
- Non-medical prescribing qualification - or working towards
- Membership of relevant professional association
- Accredited or eligible to be accredited as a Higher Education Institute Clinical Pharmacy diploma/MSc tutor
- Training qualification Leadership and/or management qualification
Essential criteria
- Must be able to demonstrate suitable level of experience working in the managed sector and/or community pharmacy
- Experience in relevant clinical area
