Job Title: 1:1 Teaching Assistant

Location: Poole

Salary: £12.82 to £14.72 per hour

Start Date: Immediate

Contract Type: Full-time/Part-time

About The Role

As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting a student with specific needs, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. You will work closely with teachers and other support staff to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact in a supportive and inclusive educational setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and implementation of individualised education plans for the student to tailor educational activities and resources to meet their specific needs.
  • Provide one-on-one support to the students to help them understand and complete their work, providing additional explanations and assistance as needed.
  • Monitor and assess the student’s progress, provide feedback to teachers and adjust support strategies as necessary.
  • Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and parents to ensure a cohesive approach to the student’s development.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment to foster a welcoming and supportive atmosphere where the student feels valued and included.
  • Use a variety of teaching methods to engage and motivate the student, catering to their diverse learning styles and needs.
  • Maintain accurate records of the student’s progress and report to teachers, parents, and other relevant parties.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in a similar role is essential, demonstrating an understanding of the unique challenges and needs of students with specific educational needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with the student, parents, and colleagues, building positive and supportive relationships.
  • Demonstrate the ability to establish trust and rapport with all members of the school community.
  • Show a deep commitment to helping the student by exhibiting patience and empathy in your interactions.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in special educational needs (desirable but not essential).

To work with GSL Education as a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will need:

  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years.
  • Have a DBS registered to the Updated Service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education.
