We have an exciting opportunity for a Deputy Head of Healthcare to join our Healthcare team at HMP Wakefield, a category B Prison located in West Yorkshire.
HMP Yorkshire is a high security male prison with a capacity for 750 inmates.
We are recruiting for a Deputy Head of Healthcare to support the Head of Healthcare and wider healthcare team, we are accepting applications from registered and non registered candidates Planned date for interviews is Wednesday 17th June 2026Hours
Monday - Friday
0800 - 1600Salary
This position is full time, you’ll receive an annual salary up to £56,000 per annum.

What you'll be doing
As a Deputy Head of Healthcare, your responsibilities will vary. You will
- Provide outstanding evidence based care to our patients by seeking out, listening to and acting on feedback so that patient engagement is at the centre of service delivery. You will also provide day to day operational service delivery and data which has integrity, in a timely manner to meet commissioner expectations.
- Deliver non-judgemental, compassionate care within the financial framework that is safe, high quality and in line with CQC requirements.
- Inspire trust and excellence in your people by pro-actively leading the service and motivating the team, recognising that our workforce is our most valuable asset. Key stakeholders will be assured knowing we provide a service that people can trust, feel safe within and feel proud of. Promote Best practice, clinical supervision, evidence based care and continuous quality improvement embedding a culture of shared learning

- Degree or appropriate equivalent level of experience or clinical qualification
- Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams
- Experience of working in CQC or equivalent registered services such as HMIP
- Experience of client management or meeting commissioner expectations
- Experience developing effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Understanding of clinical governance
