An opportunity has arisen for a Sister/Charge Nurse on the Oncology Day Unit. We are looking for an experienced Nurse with Oncology and Chemotherapy experience to join our rapidly developing service. You will have the passion and drive to take charge of the Unit, lead the nursing team and continue to help develop the service. You will have excellent communication and clinical skills, and put patients at the heart of your work.
The Oncology Day Unit has 17 treatment spaces. There is an isolation space and use of James Watson Suite for care of patients undergoing brachytherapy. The Oncology Day Unit is open 6 days per week 07:30-20:00 on weekdays and 07:30-16:00 on weekends.
You must demonstrate competence at leading shifts, knowledge and experience in Oncology and be competent in chemotherapy administration. This is an exciting time to join the cancer nursing team at CUH as we continue to develop and grow our services for patients.
You will be responsible for coordinating the Day Unit as well as supporting the Senior Sister. Be competent in providing safe and effective care, including the administration of systemic anti cancer therapy to the patients on the Unit. To participate in the supervision, teaching, mentorship and appraisal of pre and post registration staff. To demonstrate professional leadership and act as a role model, ensuring the provision of a high quality, effective and safe clinical service in line with the corporate nursing and midwifery agenda.
Main duties of the job
To assist the Senior Sister in the overall management of the Oncology Day Unit and to provide safe, individualised, holistic and evidence based, patient focused care for Oncology patients within the service.
