We are looking for a Hospital Porter to join our team at Southampton Hants Hospital on a bank/flexi contract to cover annual leave, sickness and increase in workload. No set hours will be guaranteed but it will offer you the flexibility to choose shifts that work around your current commitments

What you'll be doing



You will be responsible for distribution of deliveries to relevant Departments. Removal of the packaging to the Waste Compound and generally keep all areas of the Hospital tidy. Manual Handling and Porter duties throughout the Hospital



Duties will include, transportation of patient beds and trollies to relevant areas, delivering all goods Inwards to departments and ensuring corridors are clear of rubbish at all times




Accompanying admissions to the correct ward, to and from theatre, X-ray department and the patient’s transport on discharge, so being a people person really is key in this role



You will respond to requests for the movement of patients and goods in an appropriate and timely manner to provide a comprehensive and efficient service. This will involve the lifting, transferring, pushing and pulling of substantial weight with the assistance of mechanical aids



Assisting all departments, all the while providing an excellent patient experience. It would be an advantage if you have worked in acute healthcare before but most important is your flexibility, belief in teamwork and your ability to use your initiative, follow instructions and prioritise a busy workload

Ideally you will have experience in a similar role as well as



  • Enjoy working at a fast pace and within a team environment

  • Ability to organise work and use own initiative

  • Attention to detail and high degree of accuracy
