We are seeking a Head of School of Social Sciences to drive excellence in teaching, learning, and research within our institution. You will play a pivotal role in leading the academic direction of the School and fostering an environment of innovation and engagement.
About the role
You will take charge of the academic staff and programme portfolio of the School, as directed by the Academic Dean. Your primary focus will be on developing and enhancing the academic portfolio to drive growth in student recruitment. You will lead the development of the research profile of the School, fostering a culture of academic inquiry and innovation. Additionally, you'll be responsible for monitoring the external funding landscape and advising on strategic responses to changes in policy and allocations within the Social Sciences field.
You'll need to effectively liaise with external agencies and University Services to implement necessary changes and represent the Academic Dean at management meetings and other relevant forums within the University. Furthermore, you may undertake cross-Faculty management roles as directed by the Academic Dean.
About you
We are seeking candidates with a diverse set of skills and knowledge to excel in this role. You should have demonstrated leadership and management skills in Higher Education settings, with a proven ability to manage resources, including staffing and financial budgets, at a senior level.
Experience in developing and implementing recruitment and retention strategies in Higher Education is essential, along with proficiency in designing and leading academic programmes, particularly within the Social Sciences field. Strong communication and collaboration skills are crucial, as you'll need to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
