As a part of the Gentoo Group, we’re a profit-for-purpose business and reinvest back into Gentoo’s Affordable Housing Programme.


We are recruiting for an experienced Head of Commercial to join the Gentoo Homes Management Team and provide support to the Homes and Affordable Delivery Teams. Where you will be responsible for the implementation of infrastructure and construction of up to 250 homes per year.


We have ambitious growth plans, which involve the construction of 900 new affordable homes at an investment of £130 million. Our affordable homes plan involves building new estates in Sunderland delivering homes for Affordable Rent, Rent to Buy and Shared Ownership.

We are looking for a values-driven, commercially orientated individual who will ensure that the business plan is delivered safely and profitably.

What we are looking for:


Extensive experience working at a senior level in the residential, and or Contracting house-building sector.


Quantity Surveyor Degree or equivalent work experience.


A recognised related professional qualification is desirable.


Experience in developing highly performing commercial teams delivering sustainable profit and best value.


Extensive experience in developing and negotiating sub-contract relationships.


Extensive experience in safety legislation in relation to the build process.


Demonstrable experience in continuous improvement to services to deliver increased value.


Demonstrable experience in procurement and contract negotiation.


Experience in recognising business opportunities and putting together bids to win new land.


Proven experience in highlighting, evaluating and mitigating risk.


The role is subject to a basic DBS paid for by Gentoo.
