An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Suffolk County Council (SCC) Post Adoption & SGO Support Team as a Consultant Social Worker, working from Endeavour House, Ipswich.

Your role and responsibilities:


You will:



  • be flexible and have a passion to further build and develop on our success is key in supporting a strong ethos of performance and development across the service

  • have a good understanding of the modernising adoption agenda and promoting this in Suffolk. 

  • lead and develop the Keeping In Touch service for both direct and indirect post-adoption keeping in touch (contact), you will attend the Adopt East workstreams relevant to this area of work

  • support and promote the modernising adoption agenda across CYPS and with partner agencies. 

  • develop the service by being innovative and forward-thinking. 

  • run consultations around keeping in touch for social workers across fieldwork teams.

You will need


A relevant social work qualification and Social Work England registration.  An understanding of the modernising adoption agenda, relevant legislation, and research regarding this area.


The team 


The Team provides a county-wide service to meet the needs of children.  We work directly with children who have been adopted, under a special guardianship order, permanent fostering and link care. You will also work closely with the stage 2 adoption assessment team as they link and match children for adoption.


We are a busy, friendly, and highly supportive team with lots of creativity and passion in the work we do to support children and families.
