As part of our womenswear D esign team, you will create considered, elegant and commercially successful collections that align with Seasalt’s modern yet timeless aesthetic. Your deep understanding of effortless sophistication, functional yet refined design and balance of creativity, commercial awareness and sustainable innovation , will craft products made for a life worn well.

Please note this is a 12 month fixed term role , primarily based in our Falmouth head office (typically three days per week) with occasional remote working.  A 5% relocation allowance is available to candidates outside of Cornwall.

You'll help us by:

  • Develop ing seasonal collections that embody a refined, intelligent and wearable aesthetic in line with the brand’s handwriting.
  • Translat ing mood boards, cultural influences and tre nd research into edited and clear ideas, and produce cohesive, elevated, contempora ry multi category design s , with a focus on jersey , leveraging the suppliers where possible.
  • Design ing for multiple categories with a strong awareness of fabric, fit, drape, and silhouette and proportion to ensure effortless wearability for the customer, reflecting the brand’s signature aesthetic.
  • Sourc ing and develop ing premium, sustainable and profitable fabrications, textures, and finishes that align with the brand’s ethos of quality and longevity.
  • Explor ing innovative techniques that reduce waste, optimise material usage, and enhance circularity.
  • Creat ing precise technical drawings, design packs and specifications for design development samples, working directly with and utilising the supply base .
  • Work ing closely with the supply base to refine design and fit, proportion, and detailing, and seamless handover to Technical.
  • Lead ing during fittings and development sampling, ensuring each garment meets the highest standards of design, quality and craftsmanship .
  • Partner ing with the D esign, B uying and M erchandising teams to balance creativity with commerciality, ensuring a cohesive visual narrative that will appear across campaigns.
  • Present ing and articulat ing design concepts to key stakeholders, ensuring alignment with the brand vision, including branding considerations where appropriate .
  • Communicat ing clearly with suppliers and internal teams, ensuring smooth workflow and efficient problem-solving .
  • Manag ing and develop ing high-performing A ssistants, fostering creative excellence, clear ideas and effective decision making.

The skills you'll be sharing with the team:

  • Design related degree or qualification
  • Previous experience in a design role within fashion retail
  • Strong technical design skills including knowledge of construction and design methodologies, trend forecasting and ability to successfully realise designs into 2D and 3D
  • Creative flair and ability to translate handwriting in line with the Seasalt aesthetic
  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Keen eye for detail and colour
  • Ability to motivate, coach and support team members
  • Previous experience in overseeing day-to-day operations , working to company critical path.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proactive with a growth mindset , willing to embrace feedback and develop own skills
