The Role
The role of a Network Technician is to provide specialist pressure management services and network telemetry. We do this by maintaining our pressure regulating valves and ensuring our system is optimised to provide a calm and stable supply of wholesome water for our customers. The role will support in our mains conditioning programme by providing water quality telemetry data for these operations.

The Role
The role of a Network Technician is to provide specialist pressure management services and network telemetry. We do this by maintaining our pressure regulating valves and ensuring our system is optimised to provide a calm and stable supply of wholesome water for our customers. The role will support in our mains conditioning programme by providing water quality telemetry data for these operations.
Critical Performance Objectives
- Servicing and replacements of pressure control valves and actuators.
- Servicing and replacements of flow meters.
- Optimisation of DMA’s.
- Controller setups, replacements, conversions.
- Data logger maintenance and replacements.
- Water Quality sensors calibrations and maintenance.
- To live by the South Staffs Water values of Professional, Trusted, Impactful, Community Focused.
- To ensure adherence with all compliance standards and always operate with integrity.
- Accountable for their own and others health and safety during work activities.
- Capable of carrying out dynamic risk assessments for your own tasks and mitigating risk by design for any tasks that may follow.
- Identify improvements required to deliver effective and efficient business processes.
- Complete tasks in compliance with regulatory standards, e.g. – Water Hygiene, Environmental, NRSWA (New Roads & Street Works Act), Health & Safety (confined spaces).
Competencies / Experience / Knowledge
- Dynamic and collaborative individual with excellent communication and influencing skills.
- Problem Solving skills with the ability to work up solutions.
- I.T skills to be able to record accurate data and setup telemetry communications.
- Demonstrating an understanding of hydraulic principles and experience in water network management is desirable but not essential.
- Experience of engaging with a multitude of internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work as part of a team as well as acting on your own initiative.
Education / Qualifications
- A full UK driving license is essential.
- An understanding of pressure management
- Manual handling
- Water Hygiene
- SHEA water (CSCS)
- NRSWA
