This is an exciting opportunity to join our Kings Award for Volunteer Service recognised charity to continue supporting people to make going for a walk a reality.
What difference will you make?
We are looking for people with a genuine passion for helping others, who want to have real influence on our charity’s direction and get stuck into supporting our organisation to develop. You will support the organisation to continue the great work it does in the community. We received the Kings Award for Volunteer Service and want to keep building on what we have achieved to impact as many people as possible.
What are we looking for?
experience of business or charity management & development; experience of commercial or charity fundraising, bid writing & income generation; experience of CRM or application development; experience as a volunteer; previous trustee experience.
What will you be doing?
Are you looking for an impactful and rewarding volunteering opportunity? Would you like to help set the strategy, guide the governance and support the work of Move the Masses now and into the future? Move the Masses is a York based charity supporting people to get active and improve their wellbeing and health. We do this through our impactful active buddy project Move Mates. We want to help as many people as possible move more and get out walking. Founded in 2018 we are proud of how far the charity has come, working with countless partner organisations and helping hundreds of people to get active each week. We are now looking to recruit new trustees to our board to help support and guide the charity into the future, shaping our strategy and providing expert guidance to our paid team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a passionate team influencing the direction of Move the Masses and helping to make a measurable difference in improving the wellbeing of our communities. We would welcome applications from anyone who is interested but any or all of the following skills and experience would be of particular interest; experience of business or charity management & development; experience of commercial or charity fundraising, bid writing & income generation; experience of CRM or application development; experience as a volunteer; previous trustee experience. We are a York based charity and however, you do not necessarily have to be based in York to apply - we are a remotely based board with online meetings and will consider candidates from across the UK. Our current Board of Trustees have identified a desire to enhance the existing broad range of skills and experience on the Board by recruiting two or more additional Trustees including a Treasurer. We would particularly welcome applications from people who currently walk with Move Mates either supported walkers of volunteers. What does the role involve? The Board meets four times a year online in the early evenings with additional meetings by exception. Trustees may also undertake some additional duties by negotiation. The role will require a commitment of approximately 8 hours each month. This is an unremunerated position although expenses are payable. All Trustees participate in an induction programme.
