The CHC is seeking a Head of Risk & Compliance to join our Executive Leadership Team. The strategic leadership role will shape and oversee all Risk & Compliance (R&C) activity across the organisation and its two flagship projects.

Essential Experience & Skills Proven leadership in risk management, compliance, or audit Understanding of legal frameworks and controls (charity sector knowledge desirable) Strong communicator and collaborator High integrity, strong ethics, and attention to detail Able to commit approx. 6–10 hours per week and work flexibly with a growing team Personal Attributes Passion for public health, especially child and adolescent wellbeing Values-driven, team-oriented, and adaptable Comfortable in a start-up environment with evolving priorities Energised by building something meaningful from the ground up
What will you be doing?
As Head of Risk & Compliance, you will provide strategic leadership for the development and implementation of our risk and compliance framework, ensuring CHC’s practices align with its values, legal requirements, and quality standards. You will collaborate closely with our Executive and Operational Leadership, guiding policy development, governance, and risk management practices to support the sustainability, credibility, and effectiveness of CHC and its projects. We are particularly seeking a candidate with senior leadership experience in Risk & Compliance from a medium to large organisation and a strong understanding of best practice governance, preferably in the charity, healthcare, or public sectors. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to Strategic Leadership Define the R&C strategy and set SMART goals aligned with CHC’s mission. Lead the design and implementation of R&C frameworks, policies, procedures, and quality standards. Translate project goals into clear R&C objectives and measurable outcomes. Team Building & Collaboration Build and lead a small functional R&C team across CFK and FAS. Work collaboratively with Project Leaders to ensure risk awareness and compliance is embedded in daily operations. Provide expert advice on organisational structure, controls, and mitigation planning. Governance & Assurance Develop and maintain risk registers and compliance tools across projects. Ensure compliance with the Charity Commission requirements and legal obligations. Champion a culture of transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement. Culture & Education Collaborate with the Chief People & Culture Officer to integrate R&C with organisational culture. Identify and address training needs across teams on risk and compliance issues. Support quality assurance and ethical decision-making processes.
