About the Role

Mercor is partnering with a leading AI research lab to recruit Video Prompting Experts for a high-impact project aimed at improving how AI models understand and interpret visual storytelling.

In this role, you will watch and analyze short video clips, creating structured descriptions and annotations that capture subjects, objects, actions, environments, and emotional tone. Your insights will directly contribute to training next-generation AI systems to reason about video content with greater accuracy and depth.

This is a fully remote, flexible opportunity ideal for detail-oriented professionals passionate about film, storytelling, or AI development.

2. Key Responsibilities

  • Watch video clips and generate detailed written descriptions capturing subjects, scenes, and temporal flow.
  • Annotate environmental, emotional, and storytelling elements to guide AI understanding of cinematic composition.
  • Apply sound judgment to select attributes that best describe visual content.
  • Follow structured annotation protocols and quickly adapt to evolving task guidelines.
  • Collaborate asynchronously with Mercor’s project leads and research teams.

3. Ideal Qualifications

  • Exceptional attention to detail and consistency in annotation quality.
  • Strong written communication skills, with the ability to describe visuals clearly and precisely.
  • Excellent observational and analytical abilities to capture nuanced story elements.
  • Comfortable following detailed instructions and adapting to new frameworks or requirements.
  • Passion for visual storytelling, media analysis, or creative content evaluation.

4. More About the Opportunity

  • Start Date: Rolling — qualified applicants can be onboarded within 1–2 days of application.
  • Workload: Up to 60 hours per week, depending on project needs and availability.
  • Schedule: Fully remote and asynchronous — flexible to your time zone.
  • Duration: Minimum of 4–5 weeks, with potential for extension.
  • Location: Open to applicants based in the U.S., UK, and Canada.

5. Compensation & Contract Terms

  • Hourly Rate: $40 USD/hour.
  • Classification: Independent Contractor (via Mercor).
  • Payments: Weekly via Stripe Connect for hours worked.
  • Contractors maintain full control over their schedule and working methods.

6. Screening Process

  1. Submit your resume or profile for review.
  2. Complete a short assessment (30–50 minutes) to demonstrate attention to detail and descriptive clarity.
  3. Qualified candidates will be contacted promptly for onboarding.

PS: Mercor reviews applications daily. Please complete your assessment and onboarding steps to be considered for this opportunity.
