Position Overview:


We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Transport Planner.

In this role, you will manage the operation of coordinating container deliveries and collections throughout the UK from a variety of Ports. Your primary focus will be to manage the operational elements of Samskip bookings, dealing with transport suppliers, ports and internal stakeholders as required in order to provide the best possible performance at the best possible cost to the business. Effective communication with multiple stakeholders and the ability to handle time-critical tasks are essential.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Plan and execute the collection and delivery of reefer/containers including arranging transportation from the port to the final destination. Considering factors such as truck availability, route optimization and delivery timelines are essential.
  • Engage with port authorities, customs officials, logistics partners, shipping agents, haulage contractors, and customers to ensure clear and timely communication. Keep all parties informed and aligned throughout the delivery process, especially for time-critical shipments.
  • Track the temperature of reefer containers throughout the delivery process, collaborating closely with haulage contractors to ensure proper handling and temperature control during transportation.
  • Complete all relevant documentation related to haulage operations accurately and promptly, including delivery instructions, transport permits, and billing records, in compliance with regulatory requirements.


Qualifications:


  • Previous experience in maritime logistics, particularly in managing containerized cargo, is highly desirable.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines effectively.
  • High computer literacy using online logistical computer systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across different teams and stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy and quality assurance.
  • Must have UK right to work status.
