What does the role entail?

Our Electronic Monitoring contract offers a great opportunity for a Training and Liaison Development Officer. In this role, you will support the delivery of all training elements within the contract, reporting to the Training & Liaison Manager. The need for training extends beyond G4S employees to key stakeholders who request training on electronic monitoring allowing them to make informed choices about its use as a rehabilitation tool. A rewarding role for someone who can build relationships with a variety of stakeholders, deliver objectives, and provide excellent customer service. The ideal candidate will have an established track record of successfully delivering training and a strong ability to communicate with stakeholders at all levels. Working set day shifts Monday to Friday over 40hrs per week you will be compensated with a competitive salary of £28,700.00pa, 28 days holiday, entry into a contributory pension scheme, perks at work access to discount codes and employee pricing on a range of services and products and free parking. On occasion, working hours may need to be amended to suit the training needs of employees working on back shifts, night shifts, or weekends.

What is “Electronic Monitoring”?

Electronic Monitoring is the use of Radio Frequency technology to monitor an individual's compliance with an order imposed upon them by an issuing authority such as a Sheriff Court.

Individuals who are subject to Electronic monitoring will wear a monitoring device commonly referred to as a “Tag” and have a further monitoring device installed within their premises.

G4S, an allied universal company, is the Electronic Monitoring Service Provider for Scotland. G4S installs the equipment, monitors individual compliance, and reports any non-compliance to the relevant authority.

The main responsibilities for the role include;

  • Embracing and adapting to business changes while supporting the delivery of the Training Plan to ensure consistent delivery of key business messages.
  • Empowering and equipping all new starters with onboarding training ensuring that assessment KPIs are met to a high standard
  • Engaging in group training sessions and providing personalised one-on-one coaching and assessment where needed.
  • Creating dynamic and comprehensive center training plans that align with the vision of the Training & Liaison Manager.
  • Collaborating with partner agencies to promote, educate, and raise awareness of EM, while nurturing strong working relationships with EM Champions and participating in external agency meetings.
  • Supporting the Training & Liaison Manager in designing and implementing an innovative training program focused on continuous improvement.
  • Maintaining meticulous training records for audit purposes and ensuring that evaluation KPIs are achieved.
  • Evaluating training needs, both internal and external, to demonstrate the value high-quality training brings to the business.
  • Identifying and addressing frontline training needs to tailor training based on individual and group requirements.
  • Compiling compelling statistics and delivering insightful reports to Stakeholders as needed including supporting the Training & Liaison Manager in the creation of an annual statistical bulletin published to all stakeholders on behalf of the Scottish Government
  • Championing cultural change and actively supporting the company values
  • Ensuring compliance with Information Security are upheld to protect the integrity and security of the business


Skills & Knowledge (Essential)

  • Experience in training to individuals/ groups
  • Good working knowledge of standard operational procedures
  • Excellent Interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong planning and organising skills
  • Willingness to work towards a certificate in Learning & Development Practice
  • Able to work flexible hours when required


Skills & Knowledge (Desirable)

  • Experience within the criminal justice sector or electronic monitoring
  • Ability to use Google Docs, Google Slides, Google Forms
  • Full UK driving licence with access to own car
  • Prepared to travel


Please note, this role does not qualify for a visa under the current Government guidelines therefore to be considered for this role you must already have the right to work in the UK. Re-location costs will not be granted. You must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the National Monitoring Centre in Bellshill.
