Technical Support Officer (Parking)

Calderdale Council

Date: 1 week ago
City: Halifax
Contract type: Full time
Post Ref: CC240

Please note: Internal at risk or redeployee applicants will be seen in the first instance.

The Council’s Parking Service is one of a number of front-line services within our Public Services directorate. They manage the operational elements of both on and off-street parking across Calderdale. This includes enforcement, operations, and administration.

An exciting opportunity has arisen, due to the growth of the service, to recruit a Technical Support Officer to join the existing team.

The post will be responsible for supporting all the back-office functions of an operational parking service. The role will primarily be responsible for the processing of Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) and permits. This includes the consideration of appeals and permit applications efficiently, accurately and in accordance with legislation, existing policies, procedures, and timescales.

We are looking for candidates that have experience of working in a busy front-line service and that can demonstrate both strong organisational and communication skills. They must have the ability to deal sensitively and professionally with a wide range of people, both verbally and in writing, often explaining complex and technical information. They must have both a flexible and proactive approach to their work. Knowledge of the Traffic Management Act and parking is desirable, but not essential.

The post will be primarily based in one of the Councils offices in central Halifax (the location will be provided upon appointment).

Closing Date: Thursday 7th November 2024.

Interview Date: Week Commencing 2nd December 2024.

As part of our vision

On 30 January 2019, the Council declared a climate emergency in a bold move to step up its action to tackle climate change.

Calderdale Council embraces the positive benefits of a diverse workforce, and we are committed to providing an environment that is inclusive.
