Strategy & Analytics Manager, Uber Direct UK
Uber
Date: 3 weeks ago
City: London
Contract type: Full time
About The Role And Team
This role is for a Strategy & Analytics Manager on the Uber Direct team, a fast-growing business that enables merchants across the UK to offer seamless delivery to their customers. You will solve complex, real-time logistics problems across the delivery marketplace-like optimizing courier assignment, improving batching algorithms, and balancing real-time demand and supply-all while ensuring a best-in-class experience for both our merchant partners and couriers.
The work sits squarely at the intersection of data, strategy, and execution, requiring you to not only diagnose operational performance using data but also to design and drive solutions end-to-end. You will succeed here if you thrive in ambiguity, take full ownership of measurable outcomes, and are energized by the challenge of making hard trade-offs that improve the unit economics of a massive, real-world operation.

You will succeed here if you thrive in ambiguity, take full ownership of measurable outcomes, and are energized by the challenge of making hard trade-offs that improve the unit economics of a massive, real-world operation.
What You'll Do
- Drive measurable improvements in key operational metrics (e.g., delivery time, courier utilization, cost efficiency) by using large datasets to identify root causes and build scalable frameworks for optimization.
- Lead complex, cross-functional projects from analysis and strategy design through pilot, execution, and final scale, maintaining alignment across Product, Engineering, Commercial, and Legal teams.
- Shape the product roadmap by translating specific merchant and courier pain points and UK market needs into prioritized features and process changes that enhance platform efficiency and product-market fit.
- Partner with our Commercial teams to strengthen Uber Direct's value proposition across Food, Grocery, and Retail, identifying new merchant needs and co-creating operational solutions to unlock growth.
- Own the end-to-end performance of delivery processes, making clear, data-informed trade-offs under pressure and demonstrating adaptability as market dynamics and priorities shift quickly.
- Possess a minimum of 3+ years of professional experience in an analytical or operations-focused role (e.g., Data Analytics, Management Consulting, or Tech Operations).
- Advanced proficiency in SQL with a minimum of 2+ years of demonstrated experience querying and analyzing large, complex datasets to diagnose business performance.
- Proven track record of translating data-driven insights into actionable business strategies and leading those initiatives end-to-end from strategy development to final execution.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and clearly present data-backed recommendations to leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to structure ambiguous problems and apply strong business acumen to make decisions that balance immediate needs with long-term operational health.
- Industry experience in on-demand delivery, logistics, or managing marketplace operations at scale.
- Proficiency in advanced analytical languages (e.g., Python or R) for complex modeling, simulation, or data manipulation.
- Experience in designing, running, and rigorously analyzing A/B or multivariate tests to validate hypotheses and measure initiative impact.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strategic focus and a bias toward action.
