Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit 1.0 whole time equivalent Band 4 Speech and Language Therapy Assistants to our well established Speech and Language Therapy team which provides a service across Hull and East Riding This post is for anyone interested in working with school aged children with a range of communication needs.

Main duties of the job

  • To support the SLT in delivery of high level, quality care and evidence based interventions in line with local and national guidance in the identified clinical area.
  • To support SLT intervention in both autonomous and multidisciplinary working.
  • To plan, provide and evaluate interventions within a framework laid down by the SLT in group and individual settings.
  • To participate in the delivery of service specific training as required
  • To supervise/support identified support workers
  • To undertake administrative duties as required.
  • To manage a caseload, including self directed planning and time management.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • Relevant NVQ level 4 or BTEC/Foundation Degree in Speech and Language Therapy or demonstrable working experience in the field of care

Desirable criteria

  • Qualification in English (GCSE or higher)

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Experience of working children with communication impairments

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of liaising and working with multidisciplinary teams or care teams

Personal Attributes

Essential Criteria

  • Will have strong communication, interpersonal, organisational and clinical skills

Desirable criteria

  • Ability to work flexibly to respond to specific service need.

Other

Essential criteria

  • Ability to commute within the Trust geographical area with access to an appropriate means of transport
