Risk Technology is a cross-functional team of software development specialists, geospatial information specialists and catastrophe / financial model specialists who bring best-in-class analytics, thought leadership and expertise in designing, building and supporting industry standard risk analysis tools. We are based in UK, Mumbai, US and Mexico.

The role offers hybrid working with travel to office expected on a regular weekly cadence to work with other UK based team members – this role is not fully remote.

The Role
- Provide hands-on development of class leading web-based applications and services, using software best practices
- Work closely with Senior/Lead developers and the Solutions Engineering Lead maintaining good lines of communication
- Demonstrate agility, ability to think outside the box and challenge established development processes and procedures
- Bring your enthusiasm and drive to improve and work smarter to benefit our tools and products through awareness of technology trends and direction outside of the organisation
- Work to defined development best practices and principles to enable WTW to deliver industry-leading technology solutions.
- Adhere to, promote, and improve development practices, collaborate on low level design
- Provide support and advice to team members
- Participate in estimate and recommend prioritization through the project implementation process
The Requirements
Essential
- A strong individual drive to learn, challenge yourself and grow as part of an experienced global development team
- Minimum of 2-3 years software development experience
- Demonstratable competency in C# and JavaScript/Typescript (Angular)
- Experience working with Azure cloud
- Experience working as part of a team
- Experience with the SDLC including maintenance and Agile methodologies
- Ability to work on own initiative or as part of a broader project team
- First-rate communication skills and ability to apply these to rapid and creative problem solving in a pressurised environment.
- Comfortable working with teams based in differing time zones
- Degree qualified educated in a quantitative discipline (Mathematics, Science or Computer Science)
- Experience working with Python, Langchain etc.
- Experience working with Azure Open AI (or similar) utilizing LLMs
- Experience building and working with mathematical algorithms
- Experience with microservice based architectures
- Experience with Microsoft Azure DevOps & Teams
- Experience of working in a financial services organisation, preferably with exposure to the insurance industry/insurance broking. Where this directly relevant experience is not available, we will be looking for an ability to rapidly become effective in a new, unfamiliar environment
