Software Developer

Solent Primary Medical Care Services

Date: 1 day ago
City: Southampton
Contract type: Full time

About the Role

Solent Primary Medical Care Services Ltd is an adult social care provider delivering supported living and live-in care services. As we move toward full CQC registration, we are developing secure, scalable, and AI-integrated digital systems to streamline care administration, support compliance, and enhance operational efficiency.

We are seeking a full-stack Software Developer to lead the creation of internal tools that serve both frontline care teams and business support functions. The systems you develop will help automate workflows, generate care documentation, and maintain readiness for inspection — all while ensuring usability, data security, and scalability.

This is a key position within a growing care organisation committed to innovation in adult social care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Designing, developing, and maintaining internal software systems to support care management, scheduling, documentation, audits, payroll, and reporting.
  • Building web and mobile applications for care coordinators, managers, and staff to manage care records, rota allocations, medication logs (eMAR), incident reports, and training progress.
  • Creating and integrating AI-powered tools that automate care plan generation, internal audits, recruitment processes, and compliance documentation.
  • Working closely with the healthcare manager to digitise and streamline operational workflows, ensuring all digital solutions reflect frontline needs and regulatory standards.
  • Automating repetitive administrative tasks such as payroll processing, timesheet tracking, staff onboarding, rota conflict detection, and document version control.
  • Maintaining secure, structured, and GDPR-compliant data storage systems that support audit readiness, access control, and multi-user collaboration.
  • Translating operational needs into scalable, user-friendly technical solutions, designed with staff usability and ongoing CQC readiness in mind.
  • Managing the full development lifecycle — from initial prototyping and stakeholder feedback through to testing, deployment, documentation, and user training.
  • Integrating essential third-party services and systems, including HR platforms, learning management systems, regulatory frameworks, and internal quality monitoring tools.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong experience in full-stack development, particularly using React, Next.js, Node.js, Nest.js (desirable), JavaScript/TypeScript, and RESTful APIs.
  • Solid experience with SQL or NoSQL database management, especially in secure, multi-user environments (e.g., MongoDB, PostgreSQL, SQLite).
  • Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks such as OpenAI, LangChain, or TensorFlow, and an understanding of how to apply these in real-world business or healthcare automation contexts.
  • Knowledge of GDPR, digital compliance, and good practices in software design for regulated environments.
  • Ability to work independently, manage a development roadmap, and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Skills & Attributes

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to act efficiently in a high-demand, deadline-driven environment.
  • Able to engage constructively with team members across roles and levels, and contribute to collaborative problem-solving.
  • Self-motivated and proactive in taking ownership of work with minimal supervision.
  • Capable of prioritising tasks independently, managing workload effectively, and sharing progress transparently.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new tools, frameworks, and sector-specific technologies as needed.
  • Strong time management and organisational skills, particularly when working across multiple streams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to demonstrate strong technical knowledge and apply it using a structured approach to solve operational and system-based challenges.
