About Us
The Neurodivergence service is a new and developing service and is part of Adult Social Services. We will be working with adults who have a neurodivergent diagnosis including Autism, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Tourette’s Syndrome who have care and support needs.
The team is a new development in Adult Services and this post offers the opportunity to shape our future service provision. We will be undertaking assessments with adults with a neurodivergent diagnosis who may have care and support needs and arranging care and support packages which are appropriate to meet the individuals desired outcomes. The Team will also be undertaking transition assessments for those young people with a neurodiversity diagnosis with care and support needs making the transition into Adult Social Services. The team will be an important part of ensuring Adult Social Services meets its statutory responsibilities under the Code of Practice on the delivery of autism services (2021).
The service being established will consist of a social worker and a support worker.
The support worker role will have a strong preventative element and will be expected to deliver a range of information advice and assistance. The service will be part of the Longer Term Care Service. The Team is managed by the Team Manager with responsibility for Longer Term Care Service Adult Social Services. Further support for the service and access to specialist resources will be provided by the autism lead officer.

About The Role
Pay Details: Grade 8 scp 26-30 - £36,124-£39,513 / Grade 9 scp 31-35 £40,476-£44,711
Hours of Work / Working Pattern: Monday to Friday
Main Place of Work: Various Locations across Adult Services, Vale of Glamorgan
Our Social Workers are valued for the skills and knowledge they bring to the service. They are key to the continued practice of strength-based social work approaches in The Vale of Glamorgan.
The role will be based with the Longer Term Care Service. As a Social Worker, you will undertake assessments, draw up care and support plans with individuals identifying their outcomes and commission care and support. You will also be required to manage a busy caseload.
As a Social Worker you will receive regular supervision and when appropriately qualified be expected to supervise unqualified team colleagues. Grade 8 Social Workers are expected to supervise Grade 7 colleagues and unqualified staff as required. You will have a role in supporting the continued implementation of strength-based practice and of contributing to Quality Assurance in Adult Social Services.
The Neurodivergence service is a new and developing service and will be expected to provide advice and support to individuals, their families and other professionals. You will be expected to develop your knowledge of the issues which affect those who are neurodivergent. You will also be supported to utilise evidence-based practice with individuals.

About You
You will need:
- Experience of working with adults or young people and undertaking assessments with those individuals who require support services.
- Commitment to excellent practice with individuals, families, Carers and Communities.
- Assessment skills and a clear understanding of the Social Services and Wellbeing Act (Wales) 2014.
- Confidence and knowledge in operating within the Mental Capacity Act legal framework. For the Grade 8 position experience of Court of Protection work and the process is an advantage.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of citizens is an expectation of all who work in the service area.
- A commitment to working closely with colleagues in a specialist social work team and to multi-professional working with colleagues in statutory and third sector services
