About Us

Do you want to work flexibly and part time, but still want deliver services for children that are flexible, focused on need and readily available when families need them?

We are now seeking a part time Social Worker to with the expertise and skills to deliver great practice in our Intake Team. You will complete a range of assessments, conduct section 47 enquiries and establish whether longer term plans are needed by families. You will also issue court proceedings where needed, and get involved in private law work. This is a fast paced team where every day is different.

About The Role

Pay Details: Grade 8, SCP 26 – 30 £36,124 - £39,513 p.a (pro rata). + £5000 enhancement/ Grade 9, SCP 31 – 35 £40,476 - £44,711 p.a (pro rata) + £5000 enhancement

Salary on appointment will depend upon qualification and experience as determined by the appointing officer. There is no automatic progression from Grade 8 to Grade 9

Hours of Work: 18.5 hours / Part time (mutually beneficial work patterns can be agreed)

Main Place of Work: Docks Office, Barry

DBS Check Required: Enhanced

Description:

  • To provide a social work service to children, young people and their families / carers, in line with the relevant legislation, guidance, regulations and national standards.
  • To work as part of a team, to undertake all activities involved in initial screening and assessment with families to determine whether longer term support is needed. This will include oversight of all responses to referrals including initial child protection and work.
  • Work with partner agencies in order to maintain and develop relationship that ensure effective and timely support to children, young people and their families / carers.

About You

Workers in the Vale of Glamorgan are able to be kind, consistent and focussed in their work with children, young people and families making a real difference to children and families when circumstances are challenging. Managers are readily available and staff wellbeing is a priority.

You will need:

  • To be a qualified and registered Social Worker with Social Care Wales.
  • Experience of statutory social work with children, young people and their families.
  • Knowledge of the principles of the Childrens Act 1989 and the Social Services and Wellbeing (Wales) Act 2014.
  • Experience of using the Wales Safeguarding Procedures.
  • An ability to negotiate effectively.
  • A commitment to partnership working.
