An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Connah's Quay Power Station Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Team as a Site Chemist. This role involves analysing process chemistry and providing advice to the O&M Manager and the wider team on operating conditions and optimisation. Additionally, there is the opportunity to work with emerging technologies such as Carbon Capture. This role also offers the potential for promotion to a leadership position through personal development and career achievements.

Your responsibilities

  • Lead and demonstrate compliance during internal and external production chemistry audits.
  • Optimize asset performance by evaluating chemistry improvement opportunities.
  • Manage all aspects of site chemistry, including interfacing with production outage plans, isolation, de-isolation, commissioning, and preservation.
  • Maintain asset integrity through a robust chemistry management and monitoring regime.
  • Ensure continued chemistry competence by managing and monitoring operators’ training.

Your profile

  • Educated to HNC/degree level or equivalent or possess extensive and relevant experience.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage, motivate, coach, and mentor individuals and teams.
  • Confidence to challenge established practices and suggest innovative solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with all stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with modern chromatography analytical methods and related instruments.
  • Desirable:
  • Trained COSHH Officer.
  • Extensive understanding of health, safety, and environmental legislation and standards, ideally qualified to NEBOSH Managing Safely.
  • Legionella control awareness.
  • Familiarity with confined spaces and gas testing within those spaces.
  • Chartered status awarded by a professional body.
