Milestone Civils Projects division is currently looking to recruit a Site Agent to work with our Projects Team within the North Region.

As Site Agent you will be part of our North Region Projects delivery team who are responsible for delivering a wide variety of exciting highways improvements schemes, civils projects and various frameworks including National Highways SDF Framework.

As the Site Agent your duties & responsibilities will be:

  • Lead associated site team including Milestone supervision and subcontractors to successful completion of works
  • Monitor site activities against target programmes reporting exceptions in outputs, delays etc.
  • Complete all activities with diligence and energy to maximise the time spent on site planning and supervising works
  • Ensure adequate records are maintained through site photographs, daily diaries and as built drawings.
  • Carry out daily site briefings and supervise sub-contractor task briefings.
  • Monitor all works activities to ensure they meet the Works Specification and are being delivered in a safe manner following the principles of our internal behavioural based safety programme - "It Starts With Me";
  • Attend client meetings to provide them with a delivery update and manage any adverse issues.
  • Write and maintain contract programme
  • Formal communications to clients and subcontractors including but not limited to Early Warnings, and instructions.
  • Assist in the tendering of works including evaluation and selection of sub-contract packages.
  • Take ownership of Health, Safety and Environmental compliance for the project and ensure all identified actions are closed out within their timescale
  • Liaise with commercial team, designers and site teams to manage changes identified on site.
  • Fully engage with the commercial team members to ensure the project commercial procedures are followed.
  • Attend client meetings to provide them with a delivery update and manage any adverse issues
  • Compliance with Milestone and PCC, H&S, Quality and Environmental, reporting and performance requirements
  • Represent Milestone and the Client in a professional manner at all times. Be customer focused and proactive in managing customer interface to prevent / eliminate complaints.
  • Able to supervise night operations when required and provide a report to the Site Agent / Project Manager at the end of the shift
  • Carryout site inductions, toolbox talks and briefings to site operatives
  • Ensure adequate records are maintained through photographs, site diaries and as built drawings
  • Carry out a public facing communication role on the project which includes attending Public Liaison meetings, communication with and keeping a log of public communications, interfacing with the Client customer liaison team.
  • Communicate effectively with the MI Site Team and Engineer to ensure the works are planned in line with the agreed programme.
  • Be willing to work nights and/or away from home for short periods were required.

Skills & Knowledge Requirements

  • Possession of SMSTS
  • CSCS (supervisor card)
  • Driving licence
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience of supervising Highway improvement and public realm work.
  • A good level of experience in civil engineering and workforce supervision including earthworks, drainage, structures, and Highways
  • A good level of commercial acumen to facilitate cost control.
  • Effective team management, leadership and influencing skills to get the best from everyone.
  • Excellent customer skills and the ability to demonstrate influencing in all situations.
  • The ability to drive excellent relationships with contacts at all levels including the client and colleagues.
  • The ability to remain flexible in your approach to the role whilst embracing change and helping to drive that change through.
  • Experience of working on NEC3 and NEC4 contracts including the mechanisms for notifications.
  • Excellent communication skills – verbal and written – to ensure clarity in all situations and to effectively influence client decision making
  • Highly organised and able to juggle priorities, whilst multi-tasking for many stakeholders, and remaining focussed on what’s most important
  • Good communication skills
