About The Role
We're looking for Senior Software Engineers to build data products and help us improve our platform capabilities. Join us as a Senior Data Engineer and, as well as shaping and creating the foundations for insight-driven, market-leading digital products, you’ll play an influential role coaching our apprentices, graduates and professional developers. We follow Agile and Lean principles so we're looking for a engineers who understands the importance of teamwork, communication and collaboration. The data engineering community at Auto Trader is made up of people from various backgrounds so you will be collaborating with a diverse group of people to solve problems more holistically.
Everyone is jointly responsible for delivering the goals of the team, including deploying and monitoring changes into production. There are plenty of opportunities for you to input based on your experiences, and drive direction and solutions. Comfortable talking about system design and architecture, you’ll also know how to get the best out of our tribe-led, multifunctional, Agile working environment.

We’re offering a salary of £50,000 - £70,000, plus an additional 10% of your salary awarded to you in shares each year. These awarded shares will become yours in yearly instalments over the next three years, and you can choose to either sell them or keep them as shares. And you'll receive 29 days holiday, plus bank holidays and comprehensive private medical cover.

What We're Looking For
- Big data enthusiast with knowledge and understanding of Big Data technologies - e.g Spark, Hadoop
- Functional programming skills
- Experience in various continuous delivery practices to deploy, support and operate data pipelines
- Experience working across the full delivery chain, from data to products
- You will have an understanding of data modelling and experience with data engineering tools and platforms such as, Kafka, Spark, and Hadoop
- Comfortable presenting technical ideas to non-technical colleagues
- Passionate about mentoring and coaching and sharing technical expertise
- Strong team work ethic, communication and collaboration skills
- Support with our recruitment process by evaluating candidates at all stages.
