Balfour Beatty is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Recruiter to contribute to the Net Zero Teesside project based at our new site in Redcar, Teesside.

As a site-based recruitment specialist for Balfour Beatty, your primary role is to lead the recruitment activities for the Net Zero Teesside project. You will act as a recruitment expert, demonstrating technical expertise, sector-specific knowledge, and strong influence among stakeholders and hiring managers. Your responsibilities encompass the entire recruitment lifecycle, with a strong focus on local talent initiatives and sourcing a diverse candidate pool.

What you'll be doing

Vacancy Management

  • Collaborate with the project HR Lead and Project Director to fully understand the resource forecast and mobilisation plan specific to the Net Zero Teesside project and build a recruitment & sourcing plan to deliver against talent needs.
  • Fully lifecycle recruiter role, responsible from creation of vacancies, including initial briefings with hiring managers to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the role and project requirements.
  • Provide market expertise and advice on the best recruitment routes tailored to the project and commercial needs.
  • Develop clear recruitment strategies to attract demand talent and pipeline for future talent. Set sourcing activities into place and agree timelines, and expectations for managers, ensuring accountability for shortlisting, interviewing and hiring decisions to meet project timelines.
  • Manage vacancies through the complete recruitment cycle, from approval to offer and start date, ensuring alignment with project mobilisation schedules.
  • Work collaboratively the colleagues across HR, Resourcing and Comms and Talent Attraction to ensure delivery on the project.

Sourcing and Attraction

  • Utilise a diverse array of sourcing channels (LinkedIn, job boards, industry-specific networks, diversity-focused job boards) to attract a wide and inclusive candidate pool efficiently and cost-effectively.
  • Act as a 'Brand Ambassador' for Balfour Beatty, promoting the company’s employment offerings and the Net Zero Teesside project through social media and other channels.
  • Support the HR Lead and comms team in developing attraction collateral and campaigns to position Balfour Beatty & NZT as an Employer of choice.
  • Partner with the Talent Attraction team to develop attraction campaigns specifically tailored to the project's sector, with an emphasis on diversity and local talent.

Candidate Experience

  • Ensure a 'best in class' candidate experience by responding to applicants promptly and supporting them through the recruitment journey, emphasising the project’s significance.
  • Educate hiring managers on the critical role of creating a positive candidate experience to attract top talent for the project

Data, Insight and Reporting

  • Maintain accountability for real-time updates in the ATS to ensure accurate tracking of project-related recruitment.
  • Ensure data integrity and measure the effectiveness of the recruitment function in relation to project goals.
  • Utilise recruitment metrics to influence strategies and decisions, ensuring alignment with project mobilization needs.
  • Prepare and present regular reporting, either the resourcing dashboard, market data or relevant insights related to talent flow and availability. Use a data centric approach to identify opportunities, solve for hiring challenge

Who we're looking for

The Following Qualities/experience Are Essential

  • Relevant recruitment experience, preferably within infrastructure, energy, engineering, or adjacent industries.
  • Proven experience in supporting high volume project recruitment through effective and diverse resourcing strategies.
  • Strong background in building and maintaining stakeholder/hiring manager relationships.
  • Excellent collaborative skills with a proactive, results-oriented approach.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively to deadlines.
  • Proficient in using applicant tracking and candidate management systems, job/careers sites, social media and recruitment process workflows.
  • Demonstrable Talent sourcing capabilities including direct sourcing, headhunting, driving internal, referral and networking pipelines, as well as managing talent pooling and effectively screening high volumes applications for open roles.
  • Strong data centricity, comfortable with metrics and insights from numerous sources and refining those to prepare and present compelling business updates & reports
