As a result, alongside several consortium partners; Balfour Beatty have been selected by bp (British Petroleum) to construct a first-of-a-kind fully integrated gas-fired power station with carbon capture and storage which is a key driving force behind plans to make Teesside the UK’s first decarbonised industrial cluster.

Balfour Beatty is seeking a dynamic Plant Coordinator to contribute to the Net Zero Teesside (NZT) project based at our site in Redcar and Cleveland.

What you'll be doing

The Successful Candidate Will Have The Following Accountabilities

  • Fleet Admin Management – STH (Core Fleet Initial requirements dealt with by Fleet Business Partners)
  • Monitor asset utilisation across the Project - optimise the use telematics of plant and fleet equipment and minimise

costs.

  • Ensure all operations conducted in line with the minimum Balfour Beatty H&S standards.
  • Maintain strong relationship with whole project team
  • Engage with project delivery team and their activities on site looking at forward pipeline of equipment needed
  • Engaging with OEM and BB innovation on product development
  • Always keep the electronic site hire administration book fully updated
  • Ensure full management of site requisition management and tender allowance cost management in line with site sign off is managed daily.
  • Work with Project team to ensure appropriate Plant & Fleet selection for any given task
  • Liaising with Logistics team to manage plant and fleet movements to and from site.
  • Supporting the ATS business in managing the maintenance and servicing procedures
  • Ensuring site related asset records are kept and maintained in line with Balfour Beatty Group and legislative requirements (manage supply chain where necessary)
  • Ensuring all asset defects are rectified in a prompt and timely manner - managing the supply chain as required.
  • Liaising with the suppliers and site team to ensure plant operator competences are maintained.
  • Identifying and raising to the Project Director and works manager any operational deficiencies or areas of improvement
  • Being the operational point of contact for all plant and fleet related issues on the Project.
  • Embedded within the Project Team - attend cost control meetings, resource reviews and contribute to weekly plant return analysis.
  • Work closely with telematics to ensure project teams are aware of underutilised plant & fleet equipment.
  • Review weekly plant & fleet hire report and attend plant meetings with agents/foreman/works manager
  • Site safety walks, audit equipment for BB specification compliance and drive higher standards and innovate new idea’s
  • Support in the resolution of any invoices queries.
  • Manage all requests for breakdowns of both internal and external plant items and log them with the appropriate supplier/internal workshop, using the call management system
  • Follow up on all breakdowns, on hires and off-hires with suppliers/internal workshops and customers to make sure that the request is fulfilled in the agreed SLA
  • Ensure all purchase orders are placed accurately and are completed on time to the customer’s specification
  • To innovate ideas and new procedures on how to resolve any issues within the project.
  • To document all issues relating to the Plant Hire Desk and escalate it to the Plant Team Leader.
  • Support the procurement team in the sourcing of supply frameworks for plant and equipment.
  • Support operations and central support functions with supplier performance and review meetings where necessary, ensuring that service levels from the internal plant and external plant suppliers are met and monitored.
  • Attend all relevant senior management meetings and contract meetings to advise, support, report, and recommend on all plant related issues and costs.
  • Provide clear leadership on a Zero Harm culture and lead safety from the front

Communication

  • Regular communication with the relevant businesses, contract depots, delivery teams, supply chain and manufacturers and Balfour Beatty Plant teams to encourage sharing of best practice and celebrating success at every opportunity.

  • A good general understanding plant & Equipment
  • Can demonstrate a structured approach to Plant Management
  • Experience of managing numerous stakeholders
  • Experience in plant and equipment Industry.
  • Experience in managing a large stakeholder community
  • Customer focus first approach
  • Clear drive and ambition, self-motivated
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with people at all levels across the organisation and

externally.

  • Agile and flexible approach to working

  • Strong computer skills - focused on Excel / Word / PowerPoint and ideally and ideally conversant with other software,

e.g. MS Project.

  • Previous site based and or senior plant management position preferred
