Gleeds Energy is seeking to recruit an Principal Quantity Surveyor to join our expanding team in Preston and meet the growing demands of our clients within the defence sector. In this role, you play a critical part in the support and delivery of crucial defence-related projects and help keep the UK safe from threats while advancing our defence technologies.

Your day to day could sometimes involve:
  • Operating with NEC form of contract such as Option A, B, C and E, as well as bespoke forms of contract
  • Ensure adherence to processes and procedures for issuing works in line with contracts
  • Contract administration and contract advice, ensuring obligations under contract are met
  • Challenge and manage scope of changes, highlighting any commercial impact
  • Maintain awareness of key issues that can affect cost/time/quality
  • Identify potential financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate them
  • Conduct value engineering assessments to ensure cost-effective solutions without compromising quality
  • Ensure that all financial obligations are settled, and payments are made

Who we’re looking for
  • We are seeking candidates relevant experience in Quantity Surveying, experience in the Nuclear / Civil engineering / Engineering (Including Service Contracting) sectors is desired but not essential.

  • Experience/willing to learn about mechanical and electrical industry in an infrastructure/ defence environment.
  • Comfortable communicating and negotiating with various levels of stakeholders

  • Ideally be HNC, HND or Degree qualified in a Quantity Surveying / Cost Management, Construction Law, or similar / relevant discipline, or in some case applicants with an alternative background (e.g.: Engineering) may be considered.
