We're seeking Senior Finance Analysts to join our Waitrose Finance & Strategy team, applying exceptional commercial expertise and external market awareness to complex business issues. You will move beyond standard performance tracking to complete complex targeted commercial analysis, informing the financial implications of different scenarios. Your primary focus will be to develop solutions and make recommendations that deliver the financial outcomes set in the Partnership Plan.

We're seeking Senior Finance Analysts to join our Waitrose Finance & Strategy team, applying exceptional commercial expertise and external market awareness to complex business issues. You will move beyond standard performance tracking to complete complex targeted commercial analysis, informing the financial implications of different scenarios. Your primary focus will be to develop solutions and make recommendations that deliver the financial outcomes set in the Partnership Plan.
- Expected salary - Up to circa £62,000 depending on experience.
- Contract type - We have a permanent position and fixed term/secondment roles lasting for 12 months available.
- Working pattern/flexible working - The Partnership has adopted a hybrid working approach, meaning you'll be able to work a mixture between the office and home based upon your personal needs whilst balancing the needs of the business. The Finance team typically works from the office 2 days per week.
- Location - This role is based at our Bracknell Head Office.
- Interviews - Please be aware that interviews will be held virtually from the 24th November onwards.
- Production and delivery of insight for your area of responsibility to time and quality standards. Using strong commercial acumen and as a subject matter expert across multiple functional specialisms, your insight should articulate drivers of current performance and the subsequent implications for future performance, as well as strong commercial analysis that proactively identifies opportunities to improve financial performance. Focus areas of insight may be guided by relevant Commercial Finance Managers, your Performance Insight Manager, or business stakeholders.
- Performing commercial analysis and complex financial modelling in order to inform the likely financial implications of different options or scenarios relating to often complex business issues or decisions. Working directly with senior business stakeholders and finance colleagues to understand the business issue, identify the relevant data inputs and build complex financial models that provide the relevant outputs as per the business‘ exam question’. You’ll apply strong commercial expertise, external market awareness and judgement in order to perform the complex analysis required and you’ll be an expert in building dynamic and slick financial models based on a sometimes ambiguous brief or data set.
- Directly facing into the business (to stakeholders at all levels) and are responsible for excellent written and verbal communication of analysis, to produce action orientated insight and deliverable targets. A strong working relationship with relevant Commercial Finance managers will be required in order to support and influence them.
- Supporting the central planning team with the development and maintenance of financial plans for your area of responsibility through sharing of business knowledge, performance insight and future risks/opportunities identified.
- Accounting qualification i.e. CIMA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent (or equivalent experience), with post qualified experience
- Experience business partnering with both finance and non-finance stakeholders, translating complex information into straightforward data to influence decision-making
- Previous experience within a Retail, FMCG, Logistics or Property Finance role.
