Do you have the expertise to deliver safe, compliant, and innovative electrical designs for complex maritime systems?

We're looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join a forward-thinking engineering team at the forefront of naval systems development. This role offers a unique opportunity to design electrical systems from concept through to commissioning, supporting key defence programmes and contributing to a growing portfolio of mission-critical technology.

You'll be joining a team responsible for designing and delivering robust electrical systems in high-performance platforms, working across the full product lifecycle. This role is instrumental in maintaining quality, safety, and compliance, while delivering solutions that align with both customer and business needs.

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you'll lead the design, documentation, and compliance assessment of electrical systems used in naval platforms. You'll contribute to technical reviews, collaborate across teams, and support product validation during integration, trials, and commissioning phases.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining clear and accurate design data packs for traceability and repeatability

  • Investigating and resolving technical challenges with internal teams and suppliers

  • Mentoring junior engineers and sharing best practice within the department

  • Managing design phases against agreed time, cost, and resource budgets

  • Supporting Test & Acceptance and Production teams with technical input

What we're looking for

We are looking for an adaptable, skilled engineer with a strong foundation in electrical design and a collaborative approach to problem solving.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Qualification in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (BTEC, HNC/HND, or Degree level)

  • Proficiency in electrical CAD tools (EPLAN experience desirable)

  • Strong understanding of electrical safety, EMC compliance, and CE marking standards

  • Ability to produce and manage design documentation across the full lifecycle

  • Familiarity with defence/marine electrical drawing standards

  • Confident communicator with excellent teamwork and stakeholder engagement skills

  • Experience supporting installations and trials in real-world environments
