We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

This is a full time permanent post of 37 hours per week, that operates over 7 days between 0900hrs and 2000hrs Mon-Fri, and 0900-1700hrs Sat and Sun. Long days are available.

The prospective candidate must be a Registered Nurse in Mental Health with the NMC and have a valid NMC UK registration number, or they must be a registered Occupational Therapist.

The post requires PVG scheme membership/Disclosure Scotland check.

A current driving licence and use of a car is essential to the post.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work as a Senior Crisis Practitioner within the South Glasgow Mental health Crisis Team as a dynamic member of our multidisciplinary team. Appropriate up to date registration with appropriate professional body is essential as is significant post registration experience in the field of mental health. The post holder will provide support to individuals with complex mental health needs who present in ‘crisis’ and who require intensive mental health care and treatment at home as an alternative to hospital admission. The post holder will also work closely with inpatient services in an attempt to facilitate early discharge from hospital. You will be required to carry out ongoing assessment, including risk assessment, whilst liaising with and updating multiple stakeholders GPs, CMHT, MHAU, Specialist Services and 3 sector organisations. We are looking for enthusiastic candidates who are motivated to have a positive impact on our patient’s lives whilst demonstrating an ability and aptitude to work effectively as both an individual and as part of a team. The distribution, and efficient allocation and planning of our team resources and caseload, to best meet the needs of our patient group, is crucial to the role. Being an effective and responsive communicator within the multi-disciplinary team and across multiple stakeholders is essential to the role. You will be expected to supervise the practice of junior members of staff and student nurses, whilst evaluating their practice, and providing line management supervision and carrying out annual appraisals.

Applicants should have significant post registration Registered Mental Nurse or Occupational Therapist experience and be able to demonstrate experience of managing significant risk within the field of mental health.

The post holder will be required to operate within the legal and ethical national frameworks, whilst adhering to local, national and organisational policies and guidance relating to professional conduct, practice and contractual obligations.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
