Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic team player to apply for the Secure Media Accountant post based in a busy Logistics & Engineering Squadron.

The Secure Media Accountant is responsible for the daily management and whole-life accounting of all deployed and local magnetic media allocated to the unit; ensuring that the location of all magnetic media is always known. The role is governed by MOD policy and requires a high level of diligence, adaptability and critical thinking.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

Job Description

  • Ensure all magnetic media and associated equipment that is issued/returned to the Secure Media Cell (SMC) is checked for accuracy.
  • Ensure you are aware of the storage location of all magnetic media and associated equipment to ensure items can be located quickly and supplied to the user.
  • Ensure magnetic media is issued correctly against JSPs, with details entered accurately on the asset database and printed records. Check the serial number on all vouchers against the physical equipment to ensure they match.
  • Magnetic media and associated equipment is to be transited in accordance with JSP440/490 relevant to its Protective Marking. This may entail the completion of additional courier paperwork for special movements.
  • Ensure all your sub-accounts muster their assets every month and return signed vouchers to the Secure Media Cell (SMC) every 6 months. A 100% muster of all assets including sub-accounts must be completed once a year and signed vouchers returned to the Secure Media Registry (SMR) as the Issuing Authority.
  • File all voucher paperwork according to department policies and procedures and maintain a ledger of all assets.
  • Ensure requests for secure media uplifts are logged with the Group Service Desk/Ops.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure that the SMC deliver assets within agreed timelines.
  • Maintain associated asset encryption and password databases.

Person specification

It is essential that the successful applicant be familiar with Microsoft Office and highly competent in the use of Excel and Word.

Sound literacy skills are essential and the candidate must be able to communicate effectively to all levels within a tiered rank structure.

This role would suit someone with an analytical approach; quality and accuracy are paramount to success.
