About Waste Managed

We’re a growing business in the waste management sector, operating as a broker with a strong focus on customer service and digital lead generation. With multiple websites under our umbrella, we’re looking to strengthen our SEO and PR activity to further aid with our success.

The Role

As our SEO and PR Specialist, you’ll play a key role in driving organic growth on our main website, Waste Managed, but also potentially on our suite of other websites within the Group. Your focus will be on generating high-quality organic leads and expanding our digital footprint. You’ll develop and execute both SEO and PR strategies that boost visibility, build authority, and support the growth of our public-facing brands. Focus should be on both digital PR but also broader PR activities such as press opportunities, relationship building and other organic activity that aid with awareness and credibility building.

This is a hands-on role for someone who can both think strategically and deliver tactically, from conducting technical SEO audits and backlink campaigns to mentoring junior team members in SEO best practice and crafting PR outreach.

Key Responsibilities

SEO Strategy & Execution

  • Audit and analyse existing SEO efforts across our main site and other brand sites.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement across technical, on-page, and off-page SEO.
  • Create and manage keyword strategies, content calendars, and backlink plans.
  • Collaborate with internal content writers on content production and optimisation.
  • Track, report and analyse performance using tools like SEMrush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, GA4, Google Search Console (and open to recommending others).
  • Work with the IT and commercial to determine what content organic leads have converted on, tracking this through to Salesforce and reviewing the quality of the lead.

PR & Outreach

  • Develop and execute digital PR campaigns that support SEO and brand awareness.
  • Create and distribute press releases and build relationships with media and online publications.
  • Identify partnerships and other opportunities such as speaking opportunities for senior management to further humanise the brand and raise awareness.

Mentorship & Upskilling

  • Mentor and support a junior marketing team with a strong interest in SEO.
  • Help build internal SEO capability with knowledge sharing and training support.

Multi-Site Optimisation

  • Take ownership of expanding SEO efforts beyond our primary website.
  • Develop scalable strategies to grow traffic and leads.

Requirements & Experience

  • 3–5 years of experience in an SEO role — either in-house or agency-side.
  • Proven track record of driving measurable organic growth and delivering successful SEO campaigns.
  • Strong understanding of both technical SEO and content-led strategies.
  • Confident using tools such as SEMrush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, Google Search Console and GA4.
  • Experience with digital PR, media outreach, and link-building best practices.
  • Excellent communication and content skills – able to plan, brief, and review content effectively.
  • Comfortable mentoring junior team members and sharing knowledge.
  • Ability to work independently, suggest improvements, and “get stuck in.”

What Success Looks Like

  • Increased organic traffic and leads month-on-month.
  • Clear tracking of SEO-driven conversions and attribution.
  • PR coverage and backlinks earned through outreach and relationships.
  • An upskilled team who can assist with the overarching SEO strategy.
  • SEO best practices applied across all our brand sites.
