An exciting new opportunity has arisen in the Bidwells for a commercial and driven Rural Agent to join the Bidwells Rural Estate Management and Professional (REMP) team in Perth.


Reporting to Head of Rural Agency for Scotland, this pivotal Rural Agent role will be responsible for developing our rural agency sales and purchases offering, with support from Bidwells’ rural agency team in Cambridge and the wider REMP team.


What you’ll be doing


As a Rural Agent, you will:


  • Take on existing and develop new agency business for purchasing and sales clients. To support agency in the other Scottish offices.
  • Receive instructions on purchase or sale of rural and residential properties. Take details, check information, value the property, prepare sales particulars and agree marketing campaign with client.
  • Place advertising, handle responses, deal with enquiries paying close attention to service quality.
  • Reach offer stage, negotiate terms and finalise sale or purchase.
  • Liaise between the parties, solicitors, finance institutions to expedite completion.
  • Establish and maintain client relationships (often long term) in conjunction with the REMP team.
  • Network within the firm and internally advise on agency issues.
  • Create opportunities for cross-selling and maintain awareness of other department services that Bidwells offers.
  • Work closely with the firm's agency and residential teams in the South to maintain national profile as necessary.
  • Make wide contacts in the residential, rural and agricultural markets within Central Scotland region and the wider Scottish market. Attend networking events as necessary.
  • Keep up to date on rural affairs.
  • Assist the REMP team with such additional duties as may be reasonably required.


About you


  • Sound knowledge and experience of rural property sales and marketing.
  • Knowledge of the Scotland rural real estate market would be advantageous.
  • Excellent telephone manner.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate at all levels.
  • Good IT skills, including at least, basic knowledge of Word and Excel.
  • Good administrative skills.
  • Excellent business development skills and a track record of wining new business.
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.
  • Ability to use own initiative.
  • MRICS qualification would be beneficial, but not essential.
  • Valuation experience would be a bonus, but not essential.
