Contract type: Intern

Job Overview
We have an exciting opportunity available at the RUH to join our newly created band 6 Occupational Therapy rotation.
Our 9 month rotations are a great option for an Occupational Therapist who is looking to extend their skills in a variety of services to support patients of varying ages needing specialist occupational therapy. Rotation areas will include Emergency Medicine, Cardiology and Respiratory, Surgery, Hospital at Home and Frailty Front Door Service.
We continually review our rotations and over time we hope to extend to include other services to increase skills and knowledge in an increased variety of specialties.
The RUH offers the opportunity to work in a progressive and friendly integrated Therapies department. This role will allow the advancement of clinical skills and knowledge in various specialist areas as well as encouraging development of leadership skills including supervision skills, recruitment skills, service development and project management.
If you’re a self-motivated, forward-thinking Occupational Therapist who is looking to join an Adult Therapies Team and help in continuing this progression of the role of Occupational Therapists across the Trust, we want to hear from you.
If you would like any further information, or to come and visit our Therapies Department please contact Claire Jackson by emailing [email protected]
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide Occupational Therapy assessments and intervention to optimise independence as well as creating rehabilitation plans as appropriate. They will also provide and promote acute rehabilitation to patients within their rotational service area.
They will also provide daily clinical management of Occupational Therapy staff and some junior Physiotherapy staff working with their rotational team and provide supervision to occupational therapy students and apprentices.
The post holder will have clinical autonomy and be responsible for the management of their own caseload, have an awareness of the caseload demands within the whole rotational therapy team and allocate clinical capacity according to service demands. This will enable them to co-ordinate the daily service delivery across the hospital in the most effective way.
