Resource Base Teaching Assistant and MDSA

Pickwick Academy Trust would like to recruit a permanent member of staff to perform the roles of both a part-time Teaching Assistant and MDSA,

based in the Resource Base at Greentrees Primary School.

Both roles are interlinked so if the employee resigns from one they will have to resign from the other one at the same time too.

Required to start: Monday 5th January 2026 – or sooner if possible

Hours:

TA – 15 hours per week, 8.45am – 11.45am, Monday to Friday, 38 weeks per year (term time, excluding TD days).

MDSA – 2.5 hours per week, 12.00noon to 12.30pm Monday to Friday, 38 weeks per year (term time, excluding TD days).

Salary Range:

TA - Salary D4-D6 (depending on experience) - £25,185 - £25,989 pro rata, per annum (actual salary £8557 - £8830 per annum)

MDSA – Salary B2 - £24,413 pro rata, per annum (actual salary £2764 per annum)

Our School:

Greentrees Primary School is a two site two form entry Primary School with a 12 place Resource Base. The school is situated on the outskirts of Salisbury. The school has strong international links and has an enquiry led skills based broad and balanced curriculum. The school prides itself on its behaviour. It is also committed to teaching children how they learn as well as the content of the curriculum. The school uses Guy Claxton’s 4 Rs of Learning and Carol Dweck’s Growth Mindset model to achieve this.

We are seeking to appoint enthusiastic Resource Base Teaching Assistant/MDSA to join our team.

As a Teaching Assistant you must be committed and flexible, be able to support groups and individual children with their learning. The role requires you to support the learning of specific pupils with additional educational needs either within the classrooms or 1:1, 1:2 or in small groups. Being able to work as part of a team is essential as well as being able to use your own initiative. The successful candidate will need excellent communication and liaison skills and will be closely supported by teachers.

Duties Will Include:

  • Supporting pupils in our ASD Resource Base on a 1:1 and 1:2 basis as well as classroom based
  • Supporting pupils self-esteem, inclusion and behavioural development
  • Provide physical/personal care to pupils where required
  • Supporting the teacher/s
  • Supporting the curriculum - Support the delivery of the English and Mathematics curriculum along with other aspects of both the National Curriculum and the enhanced curriculum offered by the school.
  • Support the school e.g. assisting with setting up, storing and retrieving and general maintenance of classroom equipment and teaching aids.

The role also involves supervising our children during their lunchtime break, both in the dining hall

and in the playground. This is a great opportunity to get involved in the life of a primary school.

Duties will include the supervision of pupils, either in the lunch hall or other areas in the school, whilst they are eating lunch or taking part in lunchtime activities. Associated duties will include clearing and cleaning of dining hall and equipment including light manual handling.

We are keen to hear from individuals who are patient, calm, organised and adaptable. Being able to work as part of a team is essential as well as being able to use your own initiative. A positive outlook and a sense of humour is essential. Previous experience of supporting SEN and working in a Resource Base is desirable but not essential.
