In this role, you will support the running of cell-based Immuno-Assay development and qualification/validation to aid programs across multiple therapeutic areas. You will execute cell-based assay development, qualification, validation, and running of clinical samples to ensure high-quality data for clinical trials conducted by Moderna. The role involves maintaining the cell culture laboratory, including mammalian cell culture, cell proliferation, viral transduction, and production. You will also have opportunities to train junior team members and collaborate with various project teams. The position will report to the Associate Director, Immuno-assay UK.

The role involves maintaining the cell culture laboratory, including mammalian cell culture, cell proliferation, viral transduction, and production. Your key responsibilities will be:
- Conduct assay development, qualification/validation, and sample analysis for cell-based assays.
- Maintain high-quality cells in culture.
- Prepare media, chemicals, and reagents as required, maintaining batch records, and assisting with equipment maintenance.
- Deliver high-quality data within defined timelines.
- Author bioanalytical reports and draft/review SOPs.
- Identify and resolve quality issues and report them to the scientific lead.
- Assume assigned general laboratory responsibilities, e.g., safety coordinator, instrument/process/technology owner, etc.
- Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory guidelines and maintain training records.
- Spend ≥75% of your time in the laboratory environment.
- Occasionally work overtime or weekend shifts as needed.
- We pursue options in parallel: You will need to balance multiple projects simultaneously to make the best choices in assay development and validation.
- We prioritize the platform: Focus on the overarching goal of advancing mRNA technology, ensuring that individual assays and developments contribute to the larger mission.
- BSC/MSc Degree in Biology, Biotechnology or biomedical scientists with laboratory research experience in a lab environment
- Hands-on experience with cell culture in aseptic conditions
- 2-3 years technical experience in cell culture, lab instrumentation, cell-based assays preferred.
- Demonstrated level of independence and work ethics
- Good written, presentation and interpersonal communication skills
- Good computational skills, preferably experienced with Word, Excel, Power Point, GraphPad Prism
- Preferably knowledge of working in a regulated environment (GCP, ISO standards)
- Preferable experience with LIMS systems.
- This position is site-based, requiring you to be at Moderna’s site full-time. This position is not eligible for remote work
